Password List View

The Password list view displays some or all of the Password records in a list format. Each row in the list represents a database record.

You can change the current selection of records by selecting a category from the Category menu. The records are automatically sorted by category and name. You can chance the sort order by clicking the column headers at the top of the list.

You can view a single record's details by double-clicking the record in the list view, or by holding down the Command key while typing the Down Arrow key. See the Password Detail View help topic for additional information.

Some database functions operate only on highlighted records. For example, the Delete button operates only on records that are highlighted.

A record can be highlighted by clicking on it. Each time you click on a record, the previously highlighted record unhighlights. Hold down the Command key while clicking on a record to highlight it without removing the highlight from the previously highlighted record. Hold down the Shift key while clicking to highlight a continuous selection of records between the first highlighted record and the record you click on. You can also highlight all records by selecting Select All from the Edit menu.

The buttons at the top of the window can be used to perform operations on the Password table.

New: This button will allow you to add new Password records.
Delete: Use this button to delete the currently highlighted Password records.
Print: This button will print the Password records. If records are highlighted, only those records will be printed. If no records are highlighted, then all of the records in the list will be printed. See the Printing help topic for more information.
Lock: Click this button to lock Safe Place so the password details cannot be seen. Once locked, the master password must be entered again to unlock the database.

There's also a Search field at the top of the window. Type a few letters into this area to quickly find records in the database. All fields of all password records will be searched when using this search tool. Click the button at the right side of the search field to clear the field and display all of the password records again.

You can easily place the password from any record on the clipboard to make it easy to enter into another program. Just highlight a single record in the list, then select Copy from the Edit menu or type Command-C. If the highlighted record contains a password, it will be copied to the clipboard. If the record's category doesn't contain a password field, or there is no value in the password field, you'll hear a beep and the contents of the clipboard won't be changed.

To ensure the security of your password, Safe Place will check the contents of the clipboard when it locks or when it quits. If the clipboard contains the last password you copied from the list view, it will be cleared from the clipboard.
